I had the pleasure of doing an equine photography session with @paintedoakphotos to capture the beauty of my precious boy, Mark. These are a few of my favorites — we had over 70 to look through 😮‍💨
Shelly is special as an equine photographer because she’s a horse girl herself. She understands that these photos are about capturing the nature of the relationship so much more than they are about getting the “perfect shot.”
She made both me and Mark feel so comfortable that it didn’t even feel like posing for photos. It was just us getting to have fun and enjoy each other while Shelly snapped the camera. I also have to give a shoutout to @rachelboeger___ for being the resident rubber chicken squeaker to help get Mark’s ears forward. 🤣
I’m so glad I did this. If you’re a horse owner and haven’t had a professional shoot done with your horse, let me gently nudge you to do it. It’s an investment that will outlast the saddle pad collection, the bonnets, the breeches — all the things we so easily spend money on in this sport. Get the photos. You’ll never regret it.
And if you’re in the southeast area (especially Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, etc) strongly consider using Shelly. She is amazing.

It’s taken me SO long to finally let him floor it

It’s taken me SO long to finally let him floor it out in the open like this. I didn’t ask for him to do it this time. Instead, he asked me. You can see his ears flicking back while his trot accelerated, asking the question, “is it ok, mom? Can I go?” For the first time ever in an open field instead of the safety of an arena, I told him yes. 😍
